William Corbin
Marr
February 14, 1943 – March 22, 2026
Harvest Fremont
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
William Corbin Marr, 83, of Washington, DC, went home to be with Jesus on March 22, 2026, at his home in Washington, DC, just weeks after the passing of his beloved wife, Liz Marr.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Harvest Fremont in Michigan.
Born on Valentine’s Day, 1943, Corbin had a gift for turning ordinary life into an adventure. Whether repeated road trips from Maine to Miami, buck-a-shuck oysters, or a spontaneous barbecue pit stop, he brought energy, humor, and intensity with him. He was an avid conversationalist and a gifted storyteller whose tales could leave you on the edge of your seat and roaring with laughter.
Corbin kept a small circle, but inside it he was all in, and he did not love casually. He had a way of helping you get things moving, often making calls on your behalf, even when you might’ve felt stuck. When he trusted you, he showed up, and he meant it. He often ended conversations with the same steady question: “What can I do for you?”
After Penn, Columbia, the U.S. Army, and years on Wall Street, Corbin remained a man of intensity and conviction. He was especially devoted to his beloved wife, Liz. Through her steadfast love and faith over decades, she gently led him to know and trust in Jesus. In his last months on earth, that faith became his own, bringing him a growing sense of peace and hope. Near the end, he wrote, “I just want to be with Jesus, my Lord.”
Corbin is survived by his family, including Carson Marr (Claire), Corbin Marr (Suzanne), Crockett Marr (Joelle), and Laurel Marr Nicholson (Ed); his grandchildren, Siena, Hannah, Samuel, Fitzroy, Theodore, and Winifred; his brother, Stewart Marr, and his children Kitsen Bernardo) and Stockett (Lauren); and his sister, Adele “Gaye” Mitchell (Warrick) and their children Will (Barb) and Wynn (Cade); Charles and Susanne Van Drunen; Roland and Sarah Bokma; Kyle and Erica Bokma; Simon and Abby Bokma; Gertie Bokma; Oliver Bokma; and Jesse Bokma.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Middleton Marr; his parents, Dr. William Goddard Marr and Mary Washington Marr; and his Sister, Mary Washington Newhall.
The family is grateful for All Saints Church, Harvest Fremont Church, and the Veteran’s Affairs care team, and above all for the Lord Jesus Christ, whose love has carried them in this season.
Please join us for the Celebration of Life. And if you have a story about Corbin, we would love to hear it so we can help his grandchildren carry it forward.
