Winifred Marie (Reese) Mezzacapo

Winifred Marie (Reese) Mezzacapo passed away on August 26, 2025, at the age of 89 after many years of declining health due to Alzheimer’s. She was born on December 27, 1935, in Erie, Pa; the daughter of the late William Reese and Anna Mae (Brandt) Reese. After living in Erie for over 45 years, she resided in the Tampa, Florida metro area for 20 years, and lived in northern Virginia for 22 years.

She was the soul of her family and was a loving mother and Nana. She leaves a legacy of great strength, love, humor, and faith. These lessons have and will continue to serve her family well.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Angelo Mezzacapo, and her sisters Doris O’Lone, Shirley Magyar, Susan Christensen, and Wilma Cooney. She is survived by her daughters Joy Nemitz of Virginia, and Lisa R. Cummings with her husband John of Wesley Chapel, FL; her beloved granddaughter, Amelia Flynn and her wife Melissa of Virgina; and her grandson, James “JJ” Cummings of Wesley Chapel, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which she faithfully supported for many years, would be appreciated.
