Yolanda Salazar Arostegui, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to her heavenly home on April 18, 2026. She was 99 years old, born in La Paz, Bolivia to parents Manuela Arostegui and Isaac Salazar. She is in eternal rest after her loving parents and her former husband Israel Gonzalez. She lived in Bolivia all her life until 2014, when she moved to Woodbridge, Virginia to live under her daughters’ care for her remaining 12 years. Yolanda was a brilliant, strong woman, a force to be reckoned with. She received her education at English Catholic College in La Paz and earned her degree in 1948. She dedicated her life to the Catholic church and served the Lord with many years of service, charity, and education. Her charitable efforts and pursuits are still active in La Paz; notably her commitment to the National Confederation of Women’s Institutions to provide better conditions for women and mothers serving prison time. She was a gifted orator and speech writer for distinguished dignitaries in Bolivia, including working for two Presidential offices. As she raised her family, she spent many years in this field of work, and continued her work in charity. Yolanda is survived by her son, Edwing Gonzalez; daughters, Rosario Gonzalez and Maria Eugenia Moghtadaie; and grandchildren, Erika Saldias, Marcelo Cortez, Francoise Gonzalez, Diego Gonzalez, Alexandra Moghtadaie, Daniela Moghtadaie, Gabriella Moghtadaie; as well as great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 22 at 4:00 pm.
